The Kent Carers Emergency Card (KCEC) provides carers with peace of mind when they are away from the person they care for.
The KCEC enables immediate access to pre-arranged planned care, giving the carer peace of mind in an emergency
Carers are issued with a wallet sized card that has a unique reference number and emergency phone number on it. The carer carries the card at all times so in the case of accident or sudden illness it can be used to identify the care required for someone. The card does not contain any personal details.
In an emergency situation, a person telephones the number on the card and quotes the registration number. The call is received by Kent County Council’s 24 hour contact centre. Staff can immediately access the carers pre-arranged emergency plan and put it into action. The service is free and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Information held will be treated with the strictest confidentiality in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998. Disclosure of information will only be allowed with the carers consent.
